Your first day

You’ve taken the plunge and are determined to live an incredible experience? Congratulations! Welcome to your first day of expanded role training!

The MON+ team and trainers welcome you. We’ll provide you with everything you need to succeed: a binder with lots of useful materials, and a timetable (so you’re always on time and don’t miss a thing). On the first day, participants get to know each other: you’ll be asked to introduce yourself, talk about your experiences and your expectations of the course. The trainers will also take time to introduce themselves and explain the role they will play in your learning experience. At noon, you’ll have lunch with Benoit, owner of MON+, a great opportunity to get to know each other!

Finally, the aim of the day is to inform you about the expanded role so that you’re as well prepared as possible. For example, we’ll give you tips on learning to live in a new culture, we’ll make you aware of traditional aboriginal values, the health challenges facing First Nations and Inuit people, and finally we’ll take a look at the different communities and their particularities.

You haven’t seen the day go by, and now it’s time to relax! If you don’t live in Montreal, you’ll join the accommodation provided by MON+.

The training program

You’ll see that the 5-week course is very complete! You’ll learn all about the cardiovascular system, obstetrics (including emergencies, newborns and prenatal care), ear, nose and throat (ENT), dermatology, general emergencies and major trauma. For some modules, you’ll even get to go directly into real-life situations. Among other things, 2 days are planned on women’s health and gynecology at the Women’s Health Center, an incredible opportunity to develop your professional experience! Generally speaking, the expanded role training offered by MON+ combines theory and practice. We believe that role-playing and workshops are essential to the acquisition and reinforcement of learning. You learn by doing!

Your evaluations

To ensure that you have fully assimilated the various training notions, you will be assessed in the following ways:

  1. A mid-session theory exam (20%)
  2. An end-of-session theory and practical exam (during which Benoit or other team members act as guinea pigs 😂) (60%)
  3. Class participation and attendance (20%)

To complete the course, you need a satisfactory score on all these assessments. Have you passed with flying colors? You can be proud of yourself! The MON+ team and its trainers are delighted to see you realize your dream of becoming a nurse in an expanded role.

You’ll leave the expanded role training course with a lot of memories and, above all, new skills that will enable you to react to any situation. All that’s left for you to do is sign your first contract with MON+, and the adventure will begin!

Why not experience the expanded role training for real?
